SSBTi Launches Level 1 LCA/Footprint Training to Empower Sustainable Supply Chains in Vietnam and Beyond

[March 2025 | Hanoi, Vietnam] — The Sustainable Supply Chain-Based Transformation Initiative (SSBTi) is proud to announce the official launch of its Level 1 Training Course on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Product Carbon Footprint, tailored for technical teams, manufacturers, and ESG professionals across Vietnam and Southeast Asia. （Course content）
As global supply chains shift toward carbon transparency and net-zero compliance, LCA has become a core methodology for measuring environmental impacts throughout a product’s life cycle. This course is designed to help local businesses and export-driven suppliers build ISO-aligned carbon footprint models, improve traceability, and meet the demands of brand partners and regulatory frameworks such as ISO 14067, the EU Product Environmental Footprint (PEF), and CBAM.
“This is more than a training—it’s an essential first step for companies in Vietnam to become internationally recognized for carbon reporting and supply chain decarbonization,” said Dr. Raymond Wang, SSBTi Chairman and Chief Sustainability Advisor.
🧭 What You’ll Learn in Level 1
The Level 1 course focuses on the three foundational pillars of LCA:
Goal & Scope Definition – how to define system boundaries and functional units
Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) – collecting data on materials, energy, emissions, and waste
Life Cycle Modeling – building a traceable carbon footprint model with real data
Trainees will gain hands-on understanding using global LCI databases (e.g., CLCD, ecoinvent) and receive guidance from certified LCA consultants from the SSBTi technical committee.
